Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in the city of the same name. They are known for their blend of brass, rock and jazz elements, as well as their innovative use of the synthesizer. The band's first big hit was the 1969 song "25 or 6 to 4," which reached number four on the US Billboard Hot 100. Throughout their career, Chicago has had a string of hits, including "Saturday in the Park," "If You Leave Me Now," and "Hard to Say I'm Sorry." They have released several multi-platinum albums, including their debut, Chicago Transit Authority, as well as Chicago V and Chicago X.
One of their standout albums is Chicago II, released in 1970. It features the hit singles "Make Me Smile" and "25 or 6 to 4," as well as the instrumental "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon," which was the first song to feature the band's distinctive horn section. Another notable album is Chicago 17, released in 1984, which spawned the hit single "Hard Habit to Break."
An interesting fact about the band is that their first two albums, Chicago Transit Authority and Chicago II, were both certified platinum. This made them the first American rock band to have two consecutive albums go platinum. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
