China Crisis
China Crisis is a British band from Liverpool, England, formed in 1979 by vocalist and keyboardist Gary Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon. The band was popular in the 1980s for their mix of pop, soul and post-punk, and released seven studio albums between 1982 and 2002.
Their debut album, Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms, Some People Think It's Fun To Entertain (1982), was their most successful, reaching the UK Top 20 and spawning the hit singles "Christian" and "African & White". Their second album, Working With Fire and Steel - Possible Pop Songs Volume Two (1983), also reached the UK Top 20 and spawned the hit single "Wishful Thinking". Their third album, Flaunt the Imperfection (1985), featured their highest-charting single, "King in a Catholic Style (Wake Up)", which peaked at No. 13 in the UK.
Their fourth album, What Price Paradise (1987), featured the single "Arizona Sky", which was the band's first single to chart in the US, reaching No. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other notable songs from the band include "Black Man Ray" (1982), "Tragedy & Mystery" (1983), "You Did Cut Me" (1983), and "St. Saviour Square" (1985).
An interesting fact about China Crisis is that they have had three different line-ups since their formation in 1979. The first line-up featured Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon, the second featured Gary Daly, Eddie Lundon, and Kevin Wilkinson, and the third featured Gary Daly, Eddie Lundon, and Brian McNeill.
