Chiptune
Chiptune is a genre of music that is created using the sound chips found in old 8-bit and 16-bit video game consoles and computers. It is generally characterized by its use of simple, repetitive melodies and its fast tempo. The genre began in the 1980s and has since been popularized by a variety of video game soundtracks, such as those from the Super Mario series and the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It has also been used in modern electronic music, including electronica and EDM.
