Coldwave
Coldwave is a subgenre of post-punk and new wave music that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is characterized by a blend of dark, often haunting melodies and icy synthesizers, with a focus on lyrical themes such as alienation, nihilism, and despair. Its origins can be traced back to the punk and new wave movements in Europe, particularly in the UK and Germany. During the mid- to late-1980s, the genre began to take on a more electronic sound and had a large influence on early goth and industrial music. It has since seen a resurgence in popularity in the 21st century, with bands such as Interpol, She Wants Revenge, and Editors incorporating its sound into their music.
