Conjunto
Conjunto is a style of Mexican-American folk music that originated in the late 19th century in the Southwestern United States. It is a combination of European, Mexican, and American influences, including German, Polish, Irish, Spanish, and Mexican elements. Conjunto typically features accordion, bajo sexto (12-string guitar), and tambora (hand drum). Its repertoire includes rancheras, corridos, boleros, huapangos, polkas, and waltzes. Conjunto is primarily played in the Tejano style, which is popular in the Southwest. The genre has been popularized by artists such as Flaco Jimenez, Ruben Ramos, and Santiago Jimenez Jr.
