Connie Francis

Connie Francis is an American pop singer, best known for her chart-topping songs in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She was born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero on December 12, 1938, in Newark, New Jersey.

Connie Francis had her first chart success in 1958 with her hit single “Who’s Sorry Now?”, which was followed by a string of other top 10 hits including “Stupid Cupid” (1958), “My Happiness” (1959), “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” (1960), and “Where the Boys Are” (1961). Her album Who’s Sorry Now? (1958) was her first to hit the Billboard Top Ten. Other popular albums include My Thanks To You (1959), More Greatest Hits (1960), and Connie Francis Sings Folk Song Favorites (1961).

Some of her most popular songs include “Lipstick on Your Collar” (1959), “My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own” (1960), “Where the Boys Are” (1961), and “Vacation” (1962).

An interesting fact about Connie Francis is that she was the first female singer to have two different singles reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in the same year (1960). She achieved this feat with “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” and “My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own”.
