Doug Carn is an American jazz keyboardist, composer, and arranger. Born in Los Angeles in 1949, Carn's musical career began at the age of five when he started playing the piano. After high school, he attended the Berklee College of Music and studied with renowned pianist and teacher George Russell. Carn has released a total of eight albums since his debut in 1971. His most successful and critically acclaimed album was his second release, Infant Eyes, released in 1971. This album featured his best-known song, “Infant Eyes,” which is still widely recognized today. Other standout albums include Spirit of the New Land (1972) and Revelation (1975). Carn has collaborated with a number of jazz musicians, including bassist Ron Carter and saxophonist Pharoah Sanders. He also worked as a session musician for a variety of artists, including Nat Adderley, Roy Ayers, and Leon Thomas. An interesting fact about Doug Carn is that he was the first musician to use the Fender Rhodes electric piano in a jazz context. This sound became a hallmark of the 1970s jazz-fusion movement.
