Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show
Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show was an American country rock and pop rock band, formed in Union City, New Jersey in 1968. The band had a major success in the early to mid-1970s, with several hit singles and albums.
Their first album, Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show, released in 1971, featured the hit singles "Sylvia's Mother" and "The Cover of Rolling Stone", and peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart. Their second album, Sloppy Seconds, released in 1972, featured the hit single "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" and was certified gold. Their 1973 album, Belly Up!, featured the singles "The Millionaire" and "Freakin' at the Freakers Ball".
Their 1976 album, A Little Bit More, featured the hit single "A Little Bit More" and was certified platinum. The band's 1977 album, Pleasure & Pain, featured the hit single "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" and peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The band's most popular and successful album was their 1979 album, Sometimes You Win, which featured the hit single "Sexy Eyes" and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
An interesting fact about Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show is that their frontman, Dennis Locorriere, was the only member of the band to appear on every one of their albums.
