Electric Light Orchestra Vinyl Records
Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) is an English rock band formed in Birmingham, England in 1970 by songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood. The group's original lineup featured Lynne on vocals and guitar, Wood on bass guitar and cello, and Bev Bevan on drums. Over the years, ELO has sold over 50 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time.
The band's first two albums, The Electric Light Orchestra (1971) and ELO II (1973), featured their signature mix of classical string instruments and rock music, and earned them critical acclaim. Their biggest commercial success came with the albums A New World Record (1976), Out of the Blue (1977), and Discovery (1979). These albums produced some of ELO's most popular songs, such as "Livin' Thing," "Telephone Line," "Evil Woman," "Mr. Blue Sky," and "Don't Bring Me Down."
An interesting fact about ELO is that they were one of the first rock bands to incorporate classical music into their sound. Their string arrangements, which often featured full orchestral accompaniment, are credited with inspiring a number of other artists, including Queen, U2, and Coldplay.
