Eric Carmen is an American singer, songwriter, and composer. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1949 and began his musical career in the early 1970s. He is best known for being the lead singer of the band The Raspberries, as well as his solo work.

Carmen's solo career began in 1975 with his self-titled debut album, which included the hit single "All By Myself". The song reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA. His second solo album, Boats Against the Current, was released in 1977 and featured the singles "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" and "She Did It".

Carmen's most successful album was 1978's Change of Heart, which included the hit singles "Change of Heart" and "Make Me Lose Control". The album peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified Platinum by the RIAA.
