Flying Lotus is an American producer, rapper, DJ, and musician from Los Angeles, California. His real name is Steven Ellison and he is the grandson of jazz pianist Alice Coltrane. He is best known for his experimental electronic music and his unique sound that combines elements of hip hop, dubstep, and jazz.

Flying Lotus has released six studio albums, starting with his debut album 1983 in 2006. His most acclaimed albums are Cosmogramma (2010), Until the Quiet Comes (2012), and You’re Dead! (2014). His most popular songs include “Do the Astral Plane”, “Mmmhmm”, “Zodiac Shit”, and “Never Catch Me”.

An interesting fact about Flying Lotus is that he directed the music video for Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice”. He also collaborated with popular musicians such as Thom Yorke, Erykah Badu, and Thundercat.
