Funk Metal

Funk Metal is a subgenre of heavy metal and funk music that developed in the 1980s and early 1990s. It combines elements of funk and metal, often combining funk-style bass lines with thrash metal-style guitar riffs and heavy metal drums. Funk Metal is characterized by its fast tempo, aggressive playing style, and its often humorous lyrics. The genre developed out of the heavy metal and funk fusion pioneered by bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, and Living Colour. The genre reached its peak of popularity in the mid-1990s, and has since declined in popularity.
