Funk Vinyl Records
Energetic, raw form of dance music that emerged in the United States in the 1960s from soul and rhythm & blues, becoming an important component of pop music over the years.
Funk emerged in the United States in the 1960s, when soul and rhythm & blues merged in the big cities to form a new, energetic form of dance music. Notable are the pumping drum and bass work full of syncopated lines. It is above all the so-called groove that these instruments lay down that will become characteristic of funk, and which, when it appears in other types of music, makes that music "funky. The first major funk star is James Brown, later followed by Sly & The Family Stone, George Clinton, Prince and others as standard-bearers. Funk is initially a purely black affair. Lyrics can also be addressed to the black listening audience and highlight their social position and how to deal with it. Gradually, however, funk proves to transcend generations and races.
