  • The Lijadu Sisters and Numero Group announce a comprehensive new partnership that is equal parts reissue and redemption: a celebration and critical reappraisal of the musical and political influence of two iconic artists who have influenced and uplifted generations while enduring nearly six decades without proper respect, protection and recognition.

Identical twin sisters Yeye Taiwo Lijadu and the late Kehinde Lijadu were one of the few female-led acts making music at the dawn of Nigeria's national independence and cultural golden age, releasing five unmissable albums in the 1970s. In the 20th century and early 2000s, the Lijadu Sisters faced the illegal exploitation of their recordings, image and name, copyright infringement, unpaid royalties and the deep-rooted prejudice they had faced since the early days of their career due to their gender and heritage, before regaining control of their catalog in 2021.

The unique power of their harmonic vocals and groundbreaking sound has led to tours with David Byrne, inspired fans such as Amaarae, Ayra Starr, Hayley Williams, Jamie xx and Nas, and has spawned a growing audience of hundreds of thousands of online listeners who crave more.

Now, The Lijadu Sisters and Numero Group are releasing a remastered, restored and revelatory edition of 1979's "Horizon Unlimited," the album that spawned an indelible hit with "Come On Home," launching a multi-year release campaign to finally bring the duo's entire discography to the masses. Numero Group will not only change the story of the misuse of the material and reissue all of the band's LPs, but will also release a collection of rediscovered, previously unavailable singles, promo EPs and rare recordings.

The forthcoming "Horizon Unlimited" LP has been remastered by GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer Michael Graves (Blondie - Against The Odds: 1974-1982, Dust-to-Digital, Written In Their Soul: The Stax Songwriter Demos) and presents the album in the best possible quality, as it has never been heard before.

"Horizon Unlimited" is the incendiary Afrofunk that their second cousin Fela aspired to. Soulful, psychedelic, feminist and revolutionary music that is already known worldwide and is now finally available again after a decade with the approval and deep commitment of the Lijadus.
