Fusion

Fusion is a musical style that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s and combines elements of jazz, rock, funk, and classical music. The style is rooted in the experimental, improvisational aspects of jazz, but also incorporates elements of other genres, such as funk and rock. Fusion was developed by jazz musicians who were looking for a way to break out of the conventional structures of traditional jazz and create something new and exciting. The genre was further developed by jazz-rock bands such as Chicago, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and Weather Report. Fusion has since become a major force in contemporary music, with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and John McLaughlin continuing to explore the possibilities of the genre.
