Gary U.S. Bonds is an American rhythm and blues and rock and roll singer, known for his classic hits during the 1960s. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1939 and began performing in the 1950s, releasing his first single in 1957.
His breakout hit was "New Orleans", which hit number 6 on the Billboard chart in 1960. This song was followed by a string of hits, such as "Quarter to Three", "School Is Out", and "This Little Girl". He released his first full-length album, Dedication, in 1961.
