George Gershwin (1898-1937) was an American composer and pianist who created popular music of the early 20th century. He was a pioneer of jazz and popular song, as well as Broadway musicals. He composed some of the most iconic songs of all time, such as "Rhapsody in Blue," "I Got Rhythm," "Summertime," and "Someone to Watch Over Me." He also wrote the musicals Porgy and Bess and An American in Paris.
Gershwin's first album, Songs by George Gershwin, was released in 1924. It featured some of his most popular songs, including "I Got Rhythm" and "The Man I Love." His last album, George Gershwin's Songbook, was released in 1936. It included some of his most iconic songs, such as "Fascinating Rhythm" and "Someone to Watch Over Me."
Gershwin's most famous song is undoubtedly "Rhapsody in Blue." It was composed in 1924 and premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The piece is considered a classic of American music and has become a signature piece of Gershwin's work.
An interesting fact about Gershwin is that he was the first composer to win a Pulitzer Prize in Music. He won it in 1932 for his symphonic composition, "Concerto in F."
