Gustav Holst
Gustav Holst (1874-1934) was an English composer and conductor who is best known for his orchestral suite The Planets. He was a master of orchestration and his works combined classical, jazz, and folk music styles. Holst was also a talented pianist, organist, and conductor.
Gustav Holst's most famous works are the seven-movement orchestral suite The Planets (1914-1916), and his choral works, such as the Hymn of Jesus (1917). He also wrote several pieces for solo piano and chamber music.
Some of Gustav Holst's standout albums include The Planets, The Lure of the Stars, and A Choral Fantasia. Some of his most popular songs are "Jupiter," "Mars," and "Venus."
An interesting fact about Gustav Holst is that he was a practicing astrologer and wrote his works based on astrological signs. He was also a passionate believer in theosophy, a religious philosophy that believed in a universal brotherhood of humanity and a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds.
