Hans J. Salter
Hans J. Salter (1896–1994) was an Austrian-American composer, conductor, and arranger best known for his work on film scores. He began his career in Germany, but relocated to the United States in 1937.
Salter is best known for his work on Universal Horror films such as Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, and Son of Frankenstein, as well as other films such as The Mummy's Hand, The Invisible Man Returns, and The Ghost of Frankenstein. He also composed the score for the classic television series, The Lone Ranger.
Some of Salter's most noteworthy compositions include the Universal Pictures Fanfare, the main title music for The Mummy's Hand, and the main theme for The Wolf Man. His other famous works include the theme song for the television show, The Lone Ranger, and the "Swinging Vampire" song from The Ghost of Frankenstein.
An interesting fact about Hans J. Salter is that he composed the score for the 1944 Marx Brothers film, The Story of Mankind. This was the last of the Marx Brothers' movies to feature a live orchestra and Salter was the last composer to work with the comedy trio.
