Hawaiian
Hawaiian music is a genre of folk and popular music originating in the Hawaiian Islands. It has its roots in traditional Hawaiian music, as well as in the music of the United States and other countries. Traditional Hawaiian music is characterized by its polyrhythmic drumming, traditional instruments such as the ukulele, steel guitar, and slack key guitar, and unique vocal styles, often accompanied by hula dancing. In the early 20th century, Hawaiian music experienced a surge in popularity, with the invention of the steel guitar and the development of the slack key guitar. Hawaiian music has since evolved to include a range of genres, including reggae, rock, and hip-hop.
