Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672) was a German composer, organist and music theorist. He was one of the most important figures of the early Baroque period. He is best known for his polyphonic sacred music. He was the first German composer to use the Italian concertato style and was one of the first composers to introduce the cantata and opera to German-speaking audiences.

His most famous compositions include "Musikalische Exequien" (1636), "Deutsches Magnificat" (1641), "Historia der Auferstehung Jesu Christi" (1623) and "Geistliche Chormusik" (1648).

Some of his most acclaimed albums include "Musikalische Exequien" (1636), "Geistliche Chormusik" (1648) and "Schütz: Psalmen Davids" (1619).

One interesting fact about Schütz is that he was the first German composer to set the Bible to music. He composed more than 200 settings of biblical texts, including the "Psalmen Davids" (1619). He also wrote more than 200 motets and about 100 madrigals.
