Herbert von Karajan (1908-1989) was an Austrian conductor, considered one of the most influential classical musicians of the 20th century. He was the principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic for 35 years and was renowned for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, and Wagner.
Karajan’s standout albums include Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 (1962), Mozart: Symphonies Nos. 40 & 41 (1963), and Bruckner: Symphony No. 8 (1966). His songs include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Brahms’s Symphony No. 4.
An interesting fact about Karajan is that he was the first classical artist to have his own record label, Karajan Music. He founded the label in the late 1970s to produce his own recordings and those of other classical musicians.
