The Black Keys – Delta Kream (2xLP)

The Black Keys will release their tenth studio album, Delta Kream, on May 14th, 2021 via Nonesuch Records. Recalling the band's roots, the record features eleven Mississippi Hill country blues standards that they loved as teenagers before they were a band, including songs by R. L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough.

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney recorded "Delta Kream" in Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville; they were supported by the musicians Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton, long-time members of the bands of blues legends such as R. L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. The album takes its name from William Eggleston's iconic Mississippi photo featured on the cover.

Auerbach says of the album: “We made this record to honor the Mississippi Hill Country Blues tradition that influenced us in our early days. These songs are just as important to us today as they were on the first day when Pat and I started playing together and picking up our instruments. It was a very inspiring session with Pat and I sitting in a circle with Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton and playing these songs. It felt so natural. "

Carney agrees, “The session was planned just days in advance and nothing was rehearsed. We recorded the entire album in about ten hours, on two afternoons, at the end of the 'Let's Rock' tour. "
