The Horace Silver Quintet had already regrouped in the 1965 recording year and with Woody Shaw on trumpet and Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, rising talents had become an integral part of the BlueNote family. As a guest musician, trombonist J. J. Johnson joins the troupe around pianist Horace Silver. Musically, Silver makes use of a certain exoticism and lets himself be carried away by the Cape Verdean melodies of his father's homeland. The album is much more progressive than Silver originally planned, but you can always hear the touch of soul in the music. The Horace Silver Quintet consists of Bob Crenshaw on bass and Roger Humphries on drums in addition to the above soloists.
