  • "By All Means Necessary" is the second album by the legendary American hip-hop group Boogie Down Productions, and was originally released in 1988.

    The murder of DJ Scott La Rock in 1987 had a profound effect on KRS-One, which led to a drastic rethinking of his person. He returned the following year with "By All Means Necessary," called himself "The Teacher," and mostly rapping about problems in the black community. His observations are sharp, clear, and confident. This album is widely recognised as a landmark in political hip hop and is among the 100 Best Rap Albums.
