  • Next-Level-Sound of The xx

More open and positive than their predecessors - that's how The xx describe their new, meanwhile third album "I See You", with which they will be launched in 2017.

And this is exactly the impression "On Hold", the first single release, which was already released on 10 November 2016.

Thus the London indie-pop-rock band has audibly developed in the four years since their predecessor "Coexist". Their sound is still unmistakable, but ventures into new sound regions again and again. The influences of "In Colour", the solo debut of beat-maker Jamie xx released in 2015, cannot be denied either.

Romy Madley Croft (vocals, guitar), Oliver Sim (vocals, bass) and Jamie Smith (drum machine) have recorded a total of ten new tunes for "I See You". For this purpose they travelled halfway around the world between March 2014 and August 2016 and found suitable studios in New York City, Los Angeles, Marfa, London, and Reykjavík. An old acquaintance, Rodaidh McDonald, took care of the production. He already sat behind the mixing desk on the first two xx albums.

The long awaited third album from The xx is out. "I See You" not only continues the characteristic sound, but takes it to a new level.

"Along with their 2009 debut 'xx', the most powerful album of the three." (Audio, March 2017)

"This time the Londoners have elicited an easily comprehensible pop sound on a consistently high level from their digital devices, and they beguile with wonderfully coordinated vocal dialogues ..." (Stereo, April 2017)

"All right on album number three - compliments." (LP magazine, 3 / 2017)
