  • Like in the days of Steely Dan, Harry Nilsson or Prince, who all released one Album classic a year, Mac Demarco is putting his next effort to work with "Another One." The mini-LP comes just a year after the successful "Salad Days" album. Entirely conceived and recorded by Demarco in the scarce free time in his rigid touring schedule, he quickly discovered that it is possible to live in relative isolation, even if strictly speaking you still live in New York City.

    In the little bits of time between shows, he wrote and recorded "Another One": eight tracks that nestle like the cherry on top of the cream of his of his already impressive catalog.
    The first single, "A Heart Like Ears," with organ riffs and the light vocal melody, is both haunting and warm. The track underscores Mac Demarco's maturity as a songwriter: a little more polished, a little more worldly, and yet still with his heart and soul Mac Demarco.

    The atmosphere on the mini-album is one of lost love, or love that was never found; a theme the world will never gets enough of - and a theme in which Mac can move without becoming sullen or somber. The listener's feeling at the end of the eight-track EP is the same satisfaction that comes after watching an old Bogart movie: He's still the hero, even if he didn't quite get the girl.
