James Taylor is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who has been a prominent figure in the music industry since the late 1960s. He is considered one of the pioneers of the “singer-songwriter” genre, blending folk, rock and pop music into his own unique style.

Taylor's breakthrough album, Sweet Baby James, was released in 1970 and featured his popular song “Fire and Rain”. His follow-up album, Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts and was certified platinum in the United States.
