Johann Strauss Jr. (1825-1899) was an Austrian composer known as the "Waltz King". He was the eldest son of Johann Strauss Sr., also a composer of dance music. Strauss Jr. was one of the most famous and influential composers of the 19th century, and his works continue to be popular to this day.
Some of his most famous works include The Blue Danube, An der schönen blauen Donau, Tales from the Vienna Woods, and The Emperor Waltz. His operettas Die Fledermaus and Der Zigeunerbaron are also hugely popular.
An interesting fact about Johann Strauss Jr. is that he was the first composer to have his own official fan club, known as the Johann Strauss Society. This society was founded in 1892, three years before his death, and it still exists today.
