Kool & The Gang Vinyl Records

Kool & The Gang is a funk, soul and rhythm and blues band that was formed in 1964 in Jersey City, New Jersey by Robert "Kool" Bell and his brother Ronald. The band started out as a jazz ensemble before transitioning to a funk and R&B sound.

Kool & The Gang's breakthrough album was 1974's Wild and Peaceful, which featured the hit single "Jungle Boogie" and was later sampled in the popular song "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer. The album was followed by the disco-era albums Open Sesame and Ladies Night, which featured the hits "Celebration" and "Ladies Night".

Other standout albums from Kool & The Gang include Emergency (1984), which featured the hit singles "Cherish" and "Fresh", and Celebration: The Best of Kool & The Gang (1986).

An interesting fact about Kool & The Gang is that they have won two Grammy Awards and have been nominated for seven. They were also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.
