Leo Kottke is a folk-rock and fingerstyle guitarist born in Athens, Georgia in 1945. He rose to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and is known for his unique fingerpicking style and use of open tunings. His most notable albums include 6- and 12-String Guitar (1969), My Feet Are Smiling (1972), Dreams and All That Stuff (1974), Ice Water (1975), and Greenhouse (1982). His most popular songs include “The Fisherman,” “Vaseline Machine Gun,” and “Living in the Country.”
An interesting fact about Leo Kottke is that he was discovered by John Fahey, a pioneering guitarist in his own right. Kottke has since gone on to collaborate with many other notable musicians, including Phish, Lyle Lovett, and Emmylou Harris. He is considered one of the most influential fingerstyle guitarists of all time.
