L'Orchestre De La Suisse Romande Vinyl Records
L'Orchestre De La Suisse Romande is an orchestra based in Geneva, Switzerland that was founded in 1918 by Ernest Ansermet. It is the oldest Swiss orchestra and is one of the leading symphony orchestras in the world.
The orchestra has a long list of acclaimed recordings that span a wide range of genres, including classical, jazz, and contemporary music. Notable albums include the complete symphonies of Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Dvorak, as well as contemporary works such as Leonard Bernstein’s Mass and Olivier Messiaen’s Turangalîla Symphony.
The orchestra has also made several recordings of popular music, such as their album of pop songs from the 1950s and 60s, Les Plus Belles Chansons de Suisse Romande, and a version of the Beatles’ Abbey Road.
An interesting fact about the orchestra is that it has always been conducted by a Swiss conductor, and it has never employed a foreign guest conductor.
