Love Sculpture
Love Sculpture was a Welsh rock band, active between 1967 and 1970. They were founded by Dave Edmunds, who was the lead vocalist and guitarist, and John David, who was the bassist and keyboardist. The original line-up also included Bob Brainen on drums.
The band is most famous for their 1968 single "Sabre Dance", which was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic and featured an extended instrumental version of the song from the ballet Gayane by Aram Khachaturian. The song was used in the 1973 cult film The Wicker Man. They also had a minor hit with the single "River to Another Day" in 1969.
Love Sculpture released two albums during their career: Blues Helping (1968) and Forms and Feelings (1970). Both albums featured a mixture of cover songs and original material, and showcased the band's eclectic mix of blues, rock, and classical influences.
An interesting fact about Love Sculpture is that they were one of the first bands to incorporate elements of classical music into their sound, predating the progressive rock movement of the 1970s. This was evident on their cover of Khachaturian's "Sabre Dance" and their 1970 single "In the Land of the Few".
