Marvin Gaye was an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, known as one of the most influential figures in soul music and R&B. He was born in 1939 in Washington, D.C., and began his musical career as a session drummer and background vocalist for Motown Records. He rose to fame in the 1960s with a string of hit singles, including "Stubborn Kind of Fellow," "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)," and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," and went on to release groundbreaking albums such as What's Going On (1971) and Let's Get It On (1973).
Marvin Gaye's standout albums include What's Going On, Let's Get It On, and Here, My Dear (1978). His most popular songs include "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," and "Sexual Healing."
An interesting fact about Marvin Gaye is that he wrote and produced the soundtrack for the film Trouble Man (1972), which was his only major film score.
