Michał Urbaniak
Michał Urbaniak is a Polish jazz composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer who has had a prolific career spanning over five decades. Born in Warsaw, Poland in 1943, he began playing music at a young age, starting on the violin and eventually mastering several instruments, including the saxophone and flute. He is widely known for his innovative fusion of jazz, rock, and funk, as well as his collaborations with some of the world's leading musicians.
One of his most acclaimed albums is "Atma" (1976), which features the classic hit "Fantazja" and is considered one of the most important jazz albums of the 1970s. Other noteworthy albums include "Electric Baroque" (1978), "Visible" (1982), and "If You Feel" (1986). He has also collaborated with numerous renowned musicians, including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Pat Metheny.
An interesting fact about Michał Urbaniak is that he is the founder of the annual Urbaniak Jazz Festival in Warsaw, which has been held since 1988. The festival celebrates jazz music and showcases some of the best jazz talent from around the world.
