Milt Jackson Vinyl Records
Milt Jackson (1923-1999) was an American jazz vibraphonist and composer. He is also known as “Bags”, a nickname he acquired while playing with the Jazz Messengers. Jackson was one of the most important figures in the development of jazz vibraphone, and his career spanned over six decades.
Jackson's most popular albums include Wizard of the Vibes (1945), Milt Jackson Quintet (1955), Vibrations (1956), Jazz 'n' Samba (1962), Memphis Jackson (1969) and Sunflower (1976). Some of his most popular songs include “Bags Groove”, “Bluesology”, “D and E”, “The Chant”, “Samba de Orfeu” and “The Party’s Over”.
An interesting fact about Milt Jackson is that he was one of the first jazz vibraphonists to make extensive use of the instrument's possibilities for improvisation. He was also an early adopter of the electric vibraphone, which allowed him to create a unique sound. He was also the first to use the vibraphone in a solo capacity, rather than as part of an ensemble.
