Neo-Romantic
Neo-Romanticism is a style of music that emerged in the late 20th century as a reaction against the modernist movements of the mid-20th century. The music is generally characterized by an emotional, romantic style that often draws on elements of traditional classical music, as well as elements from more modern genres such as jazz and pop. Neo-Romantic music is often more freely structured and more heavily orchestrated than the music of the modernist period. It is usually intended to evoke a sense of nostalgia or nostalgia for a lost past, and often includes references to folk and folk-like music, as well as to the music of the Romantic period. The Neo-Romantic movement is often seen as a reaction against the growing dominance of electronic music and the perceived sterility of modernist music.
