Recorded in the basement of Big Pink with The Band: Modern Americana Starts Here. Dylan at his best. Humorous, unvarnished, loose: folk tales, strange tales, rock ballads, inside jokes, innuendo, pepper. Alchemical Material. Ranked #291 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time
Includes "This Wheel's on Fire," "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," "Tears of Rage," "Million Dollar Bash," "Yazoo Street Scandal."
Cellars have long been associated with raucous, unconventional rock n' roll, as the dank and dark rooms have served as the setting for countless bands to play lumberjacks. But no basement is more famous, and none has spawned as much music. Music spawned like that of the upstate New York house named Big Pink. New York house called Big Pink - the place where Bob Dylan and The Band played a lively mix of covers, originals and traditionals in the summer and early fall of 1967 that heralded the beginning of Americana.
