  • Big Thief singer comes out of the lockdown with double album With her band "Big Thief", Adrianne Lenker had a big breakthrough in 2019: They released "U.F.O.F" and "Two Hands", two albums within a few months and both made it into the annual bestseller lists

In early 2020, Big Thief played their biggest European tour to date to completely sold out venues, but the tour had to be abruptly interrupted due to the pandemic, concerts cancelled. Adrianne Lenker traveled back to the U.S. and retreated to a secluded cabin in the mountains of Massachusetts. While Adrianne wrote new songs, her sound engineer Philip Weinrobe scoured the wasteland for old tape machines and some XLR cables and converted the cabin into a studio

All recordings on "Songs" and "Instrumentals" are 100% analog, no digital processes were used. And because there are so many songs, it has become 2 albums again: "Songs" and "Instrumentals" (combined as a double album in the phyical version). "Songs" are introverted pieces, which were created in almost complete isolation and thus give an even clearer insight into Lenker's soul. "Instrumentals" is a collage of jam sessions from the cottage studio. Both albums are interwoven and yet stand on their own. The artwork is by Adrianne's grandmother Diane Lee.
