  • They did it: Calexico recorded their first Christmas album in 2020. "Seasonal Shift" is even more than that.

    It's a cross-cultural exchange about Christmastime and the end of the year, reflection on the past year and a bit of contemplation.

    The Tucson desert rockers around Joey Burns and John Convertino recorded twelve songs for it, originals and covers of classics by John Lennon with Yoko Ono and Tom Petty.

    They were supported by a few international guests, including Bombino, Gaby Moreno, Gisela João, Nick Urata (DeVotchKa) and Camilo Lara.

    With the song "Hear The Bells" there was already a first foretaste of "Seasonal Shift".

    Indie rock and folk, country, jazz and mariachi: Calexico remain true to themselves at Christmas and as usual versatile. "Seasonal Shift" is the impressive proof.
