Roberto Fonseca – Yesun (2xLP)

Roberto Fonseca is one of the most successful Cuban Musicians, he was involved with the Buena Vista Social Club, among others, toured later with Ibrahim Ferrer or Omara Portuondo and was recently with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the French Minister of Culture the highest French award for culture. Now he releases his ninth solo album "Yesun". Let it be the album he always wanted to make, says Roberto Fonseca

"Yesun" combines jazz, classical music, rap, funk, reggaeton and electronica. All those influences and sounds that made him what he is, the artist says. And it continues to immerse itself even further than its predecessors in the music from Fonseca's homeland Cuba, while always keeping a firm eye on the future, especially by weaving beats, spoken word and analogue keyboards with Fonseca's sonorous voice. Roberto Fonseca turns his back on the usual maracas and cigar clichés, which are otherwise associated with Cuban Music is associated with it and instead lets a real, modern Cuba flow in - the deep stuff and infuriating stuff - the music of his Cuba. The result is a kaleidoscopic image of a Cuba without borders.
