Ólafur Arnalds

Ólafur Arnalds is an Icelandic composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Mosfellsbær, Iceland. He is known for his genre-blending blend of classical, ambient, and electronic music.

Arnalds began his career as a drummer for hardcore punk and metal bands. In 2005, he released his debut album, Eulogy for Evolution, which was followed by the 2007 EP Variations of Static. The 2008 album Found Songs and the 2010 album …And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness garnered international attention and acclaim.

In 2011, Arnalds released the critically acclaimed album Living Room Songs. The album featured a unique format, as each song was recorded in one take in the living room of Arnalds’s home. The album's lead single, "Ljósið", was featured in the Hollywood film, The Hunger Games.

In 2013, Arnalds released the studio album For Now I Am Winter. The album featured collaborations with Arnór Dan and his former bandmate, Kjartan Sveinsson. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Recording Package category.
