Ólafur Arnalds – ...And They Have Escaped The Weight Of Darkness

From Sigur Rós' prelude to a world career within two years. Not bad for a musician whose music is as tender, as minimal as that of Ólafur Arnalds. On his second regular album, Ólafur Arnalds continues his mission to lure an indie generation of pop and rock fans into a world of beguiling electronic chamber music and classical arrangements. For "... And They Have Escaped The Weight Of Darkness" invited Arnalds Bardi Jóhannsson (Bang Gang) as co-producer. Consequently, the work sounds more like an organic crossover than ever before. Jóhannsson colored the minimal arrangements with a variety of instruments (drums, guitar, voice, Rhodes). The album and a world tour accompanying the release show the rapid development of the young Icelander into an international star. Most recently Arnalds released the "Found Songs", a collection of songs originally published on the web. "Simply shocking and infinitely large" ("de: bug").
