Oratorio
Oratorio is a large-scale musical form, similar to an opera, but without the use of costumes, scenery, or acting. It is an extended musical composition that typically includes arias, recitatives, and choruses, and is based on a religious or literary narrative. The genre originated in Italy in the early 17th century, and was developed by composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Cesti, and Francesco Cavalli. The form gained popularity during the Baroque period and was further developed by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and other composers. The oratorio continues to be performed today in concert halls and churches around the world.
