Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936) was an Italian composer, musicologist, and conductor. He is best known for his symphonic poems which are based on various aspects of Italian culture. He was also known for his compositions for chamber ensembles and for orchestras. Respighi’s most famous works include his three symphonic poems Fountains of Rome (1916), Pines of Rome (1924), and Roman Festivals (1928). He also wrote several ballets, including La Boutique Fantasque (1919) and The Birds (1927). His works for orchestra include The Pines of the Appian Way (1923) and Church Windows (1930). Notable albums by Respighi include “The Fountains of Rome” (1920), “The Pines of Rome” (1924), and “Roman Festivals” (1928). Some of his most popular songs are “The Fountains of Rome”, “The Pines of Rome”, and “The Birds”.
