Percy Grainger
Percy Grainger was an Australian-born composer, arranger and pianist, and a pioneer in the field of electronic and experimental music. He is best known for his work in the concert hall, composing pieces such as the "Children's March" and "Molly on the Shore", as well as a number of arrangements of traditional folk songs. He was also a major influence in the development of jazz music, and is credited with introducing modern percussion techniques to the genre.
Notable albums by Grainger include Lincolnshire Posy, In a Nutshell, and his own piano works. His most well-known songs include "Country Gardens", "In the Hall of the Mountain King", "Shepherd's Hey", and "Molly on the Shore".
An interesting fact about Grainger is that he was an avid collector of folk songs, and even created his own catalog of over 2000 songs that he had collected from around the world. He was also a proponent of free music, and advocated for its use in education and public performance.
