Peter Gabriel is an English singer-songwriter, record producer, and activist. He first rose to fame as the original lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis. He left the band in 1975 and began a successful solo career.
Throughout his career, Gabriel has released 12 studio albums and won multiple awards, including a Grammy for Best New Age Album for his 1992 album Us. His most acclaimed albums are considered to be his third self-titled album, also known as "Melt," (1980), So (1986), and Us (1992). His biggest hit singles include "Solsbury Hill" (1977), "Shock the Monkey" (1982), "Sledgehammer" (1986), "Big Time" (1986), and "Digging in the Dirt" (1992).
An interesting fact about Peter Gabriel is that he has a passion for technology and video gaming. He is an avid supporter of the charity War Child, which he helped to found in 1993.
