Piedmont Blues
Piedmont Blues is a style of acoustic blues music that originated in the Piedmont region of the southeastern United States. It is characterized by its use of ragtime-influenced guitar fingerpicking and a unique vocal style. Its history dates back to the late 19th century, when African American musicians in the Piedmont region began to create and perform a unique style of blues. The style was further developed by performers like Blind Willie McTell, Blind Boy Fuller, and the Rev. Gary Davis. It gained popularity in the 1940s and 50s through the recordings of musicians like Brownie McGhee, Sonny Terry, and Josh White.
