Pixies
Pixies are an American alternative rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1986. The band's lineup consists of Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), David Lovering (drums), and Paz Lenchantin (bass, vocals).
Pixies' sound combines elements of punk, surf, and psychedelic rock. Their most successful albums are Surfer Rosa (1988), Doolittle (1989), and Bossanova (1990). Notable songs include "Here Comes Your Man", "Where Is My Mind?", "Gigantic", and "Monkey Gone To Heaven".
An interesting fact about Pixies is that they influenced many of the biggest bands in alternative rock, including Nirvana, Radiohead, and Weezer. In fact, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana famously said, "I was basically trying to rip off the Pixies."
