The idea for Boygenius came about when Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus were booked together for a US tour. Bridgers and Dacus first met in the backstage area of a festival in Philadelphia and immediately liked each other. Dacus has been sharing songwriting ideas with Baker via email for a long time. With their last albums, the three songwriters proved that they belong to the young and great talents of the American alternative music scene.In this respect, it is not surprising that after just a few sessions the results were so productive that instead of the originally planned tour 7``, an EP with six tracks was created. The songs were recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles in late June 2018. Each musician brought their own song as well as a draft for a common Boygenius title to the sessions.This means that you can hear three recordings with their own musical signature. With the remaining numbers, Dacus, Bridgers and Baker complement each other perfectly and give a hint for the future of Boygenius.
